Getting to the Conference Venue
From Penang International Airport
The conference venue, JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La, is approximately 18 km from Penang International Airport (PEN). The journey normally takes 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic.
Ride-hailing
Grab is the most widely used ride-hailing service in Penang. After collecting your luggage, book a ride through the Grab app and enter “JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La” as your destination. Follow the airport signs to the designated e-hailing pick-up point at Level 1 of the multi-storey car park. The estimated fare is approximately RM30–45, although it may vary according to demand and vehicle type. Participants are encouraged to install and set up the Grab app before travelling. Airport taxi
Official airport taxis are available from the taxi counter in the arrivals hall. Inform the counter staff that your destination is JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La, Magazine Road, George Town. Pay the fixed fare at the counter, collect the taxi coupon, and proceed to the designated taxi pick-up area. The fare to central George Town is generally around RM40–60 and may be higher late at night.
Arrival by ETS Train via Butterworth
ETS passengers arrive at Butterworth Railway Station, which is adjacent to Penang Sentral on the mainland. There are two convenient ways to reach the conference venue.
Ferry and Grab/taxi Recommended
Follow the signs and covered walkway from the railway station towards Penang Sentral and the Sultan Abdul Halim Ferry Terminal. Take the passenger ferry to the Raja Tun Uda Ferry Terminal at Weld Quay, George Town. The ferry journey takes approximately 20 minutes.
Upon arrival in George Town, book a Grab or take a taxi to JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La. The hotel is approximately 2 km from the ferry terminal, and the journey normally takes 5–10 minutes. Participants should check the latest official ferry schedule, particularly when arriving late at night.
Direct Grab or taxi
Alternatively, book a Grab or taxi directly from Penang Sentral to the conference venue. The vehicle will travel across the Penang Bridge, and the journey generally takes 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic. This option is more convenient for participants carrying heavy luggage or arriving after ferry operating hours.
Arrival at Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal
Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal is located on Penang Island, approximately 10 km from the conference venue.
Grab or taxi Recommended
Book a Grab and enter “JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La” as the destination, or take a taxi from the terminal. The journey normally takes 20–30 minutes, but additional time should be allowed during peak traffic periods. Ride-hailing fares are displayed in the app and vary according to demand and vehicle type.
Public bus
Rapid Penang buses operate between Sungai Nibong and central George Town. Participants may take a bus heading to KOMTAR, which is beside the conference venue. The journey generally takes 30–45 minutes, excluding waiting time. This is an economical option but may be less convenient for passengers with large luggage.
